International Committee

What we do:

The International Committee engages with other Rotary clubs in our district (and from around the world), to find, and support worthy Rotary International Global Grant projects.

While these humanitarian projects are most often performed overseas, they can be located within the U.S.

Who we are:

Our goals for the year:

  • Continue to organize, and participate in, the first monday of every month zoom meeting for any district 5230 rotary club interested in developing, supporting, or just learning about global grant projects. To date, we have 26 clubs signed up to participate in this monthly zoom forum.

  • Present worthy Global Grant projects to our club’s Awards & Grants Committee for funding consideration.

  • Continued successful development of our own Global Grant project - the Rancho Cielo Classic Car repair vocational training program. Two years ago this 3 year project was awarded funding from Rotary International Foundation, as well as from several clubs overseas and in District 5230. We are currently in our last year of this three year program, and we will focus on achieving project success metrics as well as expanding the curriculum with the additional community grants received from the state, Quail, and Concours d’elegance.

Committee updates & latest news:

Our own global grant project at Rancho Cielo, Classic Car restoration for kids at risk, has recently been awarded $454,000 over the next two and a half years from the state of California to expand it’s curriculum.

This is in addition to a grant of $100,000 received from Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach, and a grant of $16,000 from Quail Mens Golf Association.
